Nimbus' president, John Weir, found out about the partnership
through the Randolph County Economic Development Corp. and
introduced Mintz to Rick Kimbrough, the companies manufacturing
manager and engineer.
Nimbus, a contract manufacturer of electronic systems, wants
to build a new plant and Kimbrough was studying how much space
the company currently has, what it is used for and what would
happen if it doubled in size or went to two and a half times
its size, Kimbrough said.
"Phil brought by three different groups - two different groups
from A&T and one from IET," a private-for-profit firm in High
Point, he said.
Representatives from IET listened to how Kimbrough envisioned
the manufacturing lines if it went to 15,000 square feet,
he said. Then IET developed a CAD layout.
While Mintz set up the contacts, he also saved the company
