Industrial Engineering Technologies (IET, Inc.) is an
industrial engineering consulting firm offering engineering
services to industrial, commercial, governmental, healthcare
and food service clients throughout the world. IET's
mission is to provide professional engineering services
to our clients in an effort to improve their productivity,
flexibility and competitive situation. The engineering
effort must result in technically sound, cost-effective
solutions to their manufacturing problems. IET's corporate
headquarters are located in Toledo, Ohio.
Timothy C. Stansfield, P.E., Ph.D., President and Ronda
A. Massey, P.E., Vice President are the principals of
the firm. IET was established in 1989 by Tim and he
directs the industrial engineering efforts within the
company. Tim came from the automotive industry and was
able to use these contacts to gain the initial projects.
Total sales for the first year of business were $132,000
and almost doubled to $253,000 for 1990. Ronda joined
IET in 1992 and became a partner in 1994. She currently
directs the software development efforts within the
company. In 1992, a sales representative was hired to
market IET's services and this continued the steady
climb in sales. The 1997 sales were $3.4 million and
IET is forecasting $5.5 million in sales for 1998. IET
currently owns and occupies a 13,000 square foot building
which includes general offices, a training center, conference
rooms and an employee workout room. IET has grown through
repeat business from its current clients and aggressively
adding to its marketing department to pursue new business.
Currently, IET has had project work in over 800 manufacturing
plants within 32 states and five countries. In addition
to the Toledo, Ohio corporate office, IET has offices
in High Point, North Carolina and Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Total employment has grown to 90 employees including
about 75 manufacturing/industrial engineers and technicians.
Although 50% of IET's services are within the automotive
industry, other business that IET continues to service
include furniture, aerospace, electronics, food processing
and many others.
IET is expecting ISO9001 certification for the Toledo
operations in July of this year. This effort will continue
to provide high quality designs and solutions for their
clients. In addition, this effort has helped standardize
the procedures for analysis, detection, design and implementation
and ensures each office is performing to the same expected
standards.
IET has worked with Ernst & Young (E&Y) on a number
of manufacturing and service related projects and most
recently has completed a manufacturing facility layout
program for a long-standing client of E&Y, Wanner Engineering,
Inc. located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jon D. Wichser
was the E&Y account director who brought IET into the
program. IET's role was to work with the manufacturing
team and analyze process flow, measure current productivity
performance and direct the facility layout planning
process. The results of this program have included the
preparation of a proposed layout that was approved by
manufacturing, materials control and management. Implementation
is currently in process and IET's role has been praised
by all representatives of Wanner. IET was required to
bring objective industrial engineering experience to
the team, as well as provide the engineering legwork
required to measure, design and plan this program accurately
for implementation.
IET has appreciated the relationship it has built with
E&Y and will continue to provide cost-effective services
and solutions to ensure this relationship continues
to grow. IET can provide industrial engineering expertise
in cellular manufacturing, sequential build design,
productivity measurement and productivity improvement
which will continue to be a strong fit within the E&Y
Consulting Alliance Network.
